NEW YORK, NY, September 18, 2018 – As a direct consequence of the high levels of business growth the firm is experiencing and in furtherance of its commitment to the North American market,Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors ULC (“Rubicon”) is pleased to announce the addition of three investment banking industry executives to its New York office. With these and other recent announcements, Rubicon will add a total of 10 new roles in New York. These new additions form an integral part of Rubicon’s strategy to develop a truly global renewable investment banking practice to complement its existing infrastructure and utilities capabilities.
In addition to the New York expansion, Rubicon will soon announce further senior personnel across its worldwide network of Dublin, New York, Madrid and soon to be opened offices in Bogotá, London and Sydney.

In New York, Ignacio (“Nacho”) Ruiz Hens joins the firm as a Managing Director with over 13 years in valuation, principal investing, tax equity and project finance across the infrastructure and energy industries. Most recently, as Cubico Sustainable Investments’ Executive Director and Head of Investments & Strategy Americas, he led the origination and financial structuring of 350 MW in solar energy transactions. Ruiz Hens has also held positions with Santander Bank’s Asset and Capital Structuring team in New York and Madrid where he led more than USD $1 billion of investments in 1GW of wind and solar projects in the US, and was involved in the 1.5GW global renewable energy platform sale from Santander Bank to PSP and OTPP, that led to the creation of Cubico.
Nick Sangermano also joins the firm in New York as a Managing Director with 15 years in the energy finance industry and transactions spanning more than a dozen countries. Most recently, he served as a Managing Director and Head of Corporate & Private Placements at CohnReznick Capital in New York, raising more than USD $2 billion in capital across multiple renewable transactions. He was also a Managing Director at Ambata Capital Partners, an international advisory firm and family office, and Chief Operating Officer of Hudson Clean Energy Partners, where he established an inaugural USD $1 billion fund and led fundraising, investor relations and portfolio management. Prior to that, Sangermano held roles at Credit Suisse, Enron, and also served in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
David Friedman joins Rubicon as a Senior Associate, bringing tax equity investment structuring expertise in wind projects, as well as syndicating and managing global debt investments across a variety of energy technologies. In his 3 years at GE Energy Financial Services, he closed tax equity financing for more than 1GW of repowered wind projects and debt financing for more than 1.5GW of CCGTs with a combined fair market value (FMV) of nearly USD $3 billion.
