NEW YORK, NY, November 5, 2018 – Rubicon has experienced exceptional growth in its business in Europe and across North and South America supporting clients in infrastructure, energy and utilities as they work globally. Over the last 12 months, the firm has extended its global reach with offices newly opened in London and a significant expansion to its team in New York. Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors ULC (“Rubicon”) is now delighted to announce Sonia McMillan has joined as a Managing Director & General Counsel based in New York and supporting the firm globally.
McMillan has extensive experience in the infrastructure industry, gained in senior legal and commercial roles in Australia, the UK, and the US for the past ten years. She has deep knowledge of the project finance market, with particular expertise in transaction structuring and execution across a broad range of sectors including PPPs, roads, transit, airports, healthcare, water, pipelines, and energy storage. McMillan’s roles have included legal advisor to sponsors and financiers, and equity investor in relation to the development, acquisition, and financing of infrastructure projects in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America. McMillan is qualified to practice as an attorney in Australia, England & Wales, and New York (pending).
Prior to joining Rubicon, McMillan led the North America platform of global fund manager, InfraRed Capital Partners, where she was responsible for executing equity investments. She guided InfraRed through its first infrastructure investments in North America and the expansion of its investment activities into Israel and South America. Prior to InfraRed, McMillan was a senior associate at Allen & Overy LLP in London and New York.
